03/03/2025 was the three year anniversary of the Season 1 Premiere! There was so very much going on that day, and some of our crew posted some new BTS!

Our dear David Jenkins decided to release new BTS for the 3 year Anniversary of OFMD!

Photo of the Revenge's unicorn figurehead, not quite finished. It has received some layers of paint but is still missing its horn.

Photo of one of the Revenge's belowdecks sets: a corridor ending in an archway that leads out into another larger room. The walls and floorboards of the corridor are made of dark, stained wood.

The stern of the Revenge, seen from the side at ground level, at an early stage of construction. The window area of the captain's cabin has been built from light timber or plywood and attached to the hull, but none of it has been painted yet and the poop deck is incomplete, with the railing, lanterns, etc. still missing. Curving around the ship is a huge green screen with scaffolding in front of it, also still under construction.

Part of the Revenge's main deck and the forecastle deck. All of it appears to be just raw plywood at this point, apart from the foremast, which is made from a shiny black material, probably plastic. Various power tools and design drawings are strewn about, and a crew member stands in front of the forecastle deck while working, facing away from the camera.

Another photo of the ship's stern, a little further along in the construction process. A white base layer of paint has been put on the captain's cabin and parts of the hull.

The back half of the Revenge seen from ground level. The entrance area outside the captain's cabin has been built and some of the rigging on the main mast is up, but the windows of the captain's cabin are still missing at the stern.

The part of the set that will become the Revenge's stern, seen from just to the side of the main deck. The two parts of the ship have not been joined up yet, and at this point, the stern only consists of a metal skeleton with a plywood wall on either side, the captain's cabin and poop deck not yet built. In front of the ship set, the large, curved green screen is being put up.

A crew member mops the floorboards of one of the Revenge's belowdecks sets: a large room, probably the area where the crew eat, as there is a section at the far end that looks like Roach's galley. The 'roof' of this set consists of wooden beams with large gaps in between, allowing light to stream down onto the room. Through an archway at the far end, we can see a corridor.

The forecastle, bow and main deck of the Revenge seen from above, looking towards the stern. All 3 masts are already installed, but nothing has been painted or decorated yet. The stern part has not yet been connected to the rest of the ship and only consists of a metal skeleton with a plywood wall on either side, the captain's cabin and poop deck not yet built.

Bluesky post by @ SambaSchutte.bsky.social‬: '3 years ago today we premiered, and pirate history was made (3 emojis: Pirate Flag, Heart Hands, Sparkles) # OurFlagMeansDeath # OFMD.' There are 4 photos attached to the post. 1: Samson Kayo, Nat Faxon, Nathan Foad, Samba Schutte, Matthew Maher, Joel Fry & Vico Ortiz pose in their 'pretending to be aristocrats' outfits from the pilot episode. 2: a production still from the scene where the crew attack Nigel's men after the 'pretending to be aristocrats' plan goes awry. 3: a closeup of Roach wearing a fancy red vest borrowed from Stede and a chef's hat while staring down at one of the English officers with a look of disgust. 4: a behind-the-scenes shot of Stede and the Revenge crew standing at the ship's rail and looking down at the viewer. A big bright light points down at the camera from above them, and a curved green screen can be seen in the background.

== OFMD Craft Fair - 100K? ==

(Note: By the time I posted this we hit 100K! Updated numbers coming in the next recap!)

The lovely folks behind the scenes over at the OFMD Craft Fair are hoping to reach 100K! The craft fair finished with around 86K, Gypsy's hit $4,461, that's only 10K short of 100! Wanna help hit that number? You can offer services by re-quoting the bsky post below, or donate to the cause!

So many creators have volunteered! You can see the full list here!

== Fandom Donation Update ==

Something I really wanted to make sure to highlight is some very wonderful folks @jilliansauers and @frankieofmd have been tracking the amounts donated to charities by the fandoms since March 2022 and as of the end of the Craft Fair, that number totaled around $300,000!
THAT IS INSANE YALL. THAT'S ALMOST A THIRD OF A MILLION DOLLARS.
Since then, even more has been updated so I'm sure we'll see a new number soon! Thank you so much Jillian and Frankie for keeping track of that!
(Note: The spreadsheet it not posted publicly for safety reasons, if you are part of the fandom and would like to learn more, check in with @jilliansauers on bluesky!)

== OFMD Craft Fair Fan Spotlight ==

We're back with more fan spotlights from the OFMD Craft Fair!

= Dr. Briana Jackson =

Our dear Dr. Briana Jackson put up a Battle Jacket Commission and it went for some crazy amount of money! Look at that gorgeous thing!
She was kind enough to also provide her Kofi Link - Where you can download the pattern for the battle jacket for free!
Wanna see more of her work? Check out: Briana Jackson's Site  / Bluesky

OFMD Craft Fair auction item 1269: Battle Jacket Commission, donated by Briana Jackson. 3 photos show a recreation of Stede's yellow robe/'Battle Jacket', hand-sewn and hand printed with a the floral design.

She is also an egyptologist, and does beautiful fan art for ofmd as well!

Photo showing 3 colour drawings in the style of ancient Egyptian art, laid out on a bedsheet and guarded by a white cat, whose head can be seen in the top left corner of the photo. 1: Ed & Stede standing close together, looking into each other's eyes, their arms & legs entwined as Stede places a red collar necklace around Ed's neck. Stede himself is wearing a similar necklace but in teal. They are both wearing identical wrap skirts - Stede's is teal and Ed's is purple. Ed's tattoos have been replaced with hieroglyphs. Next to Edward and Stede, their names are spelled phonetically in hieroglyphs. Above the pair is a blue baboon sitting in a stylised boat, the full moon balanced on its head. 2: Stede & Ed standing close with their noses touching, one of Stede's hands on Ed's shoulder and one of Ed's hands on Stede's forearm. Ed is holding a folded piece of red silk in his other hand. Hieroglyphs next to them spell their names, and another set of hieroglyphs above them translates to 'two intimate friends', according to Briana's description on AO3, plus a penis hieroglyph just for fun. 3: a print showing 18 small drawings of individual characters from OFMD, including Ed, Stede and their respective crews, as well as Jackie, Zheng & Auntie. They are each depicted with one or several items relevant to their character, and their name written in phonetic hieroglyphs next to them.

One of the things I didn't even realize was going on in the fandom and learned from this Craft Fair was Fanfiction Bookbinding! Our fabulous friend @cufeilidh donated a custom fanfiction book binding to the fair! How freaking cool is that? Oh and he writes fanfiction too!

== Love Notes ==

Hey Lovelies! It's the weekend! I hope you had such wonderful experiences in reminiscing about our show on the anniversary! I have said it before, and I'll say it again, this show changed my life. It changed so many lives, and helped so many people feel comfortable in their own skin. It has truly been a gift to humanity and continues to give us love and hope every day.

I am so very grateful that this show got the two seasons it did, because I ended up getting to meet all of you because of it.  We are such an amazing crew, and we have accomplished so much in the art world, as well as the fundraiser world. You all are shining examples of what humanity can be when love and kindness wins. Remember that when these hard days come along and all feels overwhelming. You are the light in the dark times. You make REAL change.

Special thanks to every member of this fandom for all you do every day, as well as the fan crews out there that are still active, @adoptourcrew or no longer active @renewasacrew @saveofmd / OFMD Fan Crew for all the engagement and love you've spread over the last few years. We appreciate all your leadership and support <3

Love you crew, Happy Anniversary to our little Gay Pirate Show.

Oh, and Ruibo Qian, our pirate queen posted these two Love Notes that day so I wanted to share them <3

A silver ring on Ruibo's pinky finger. It has a flat, round top with the words 'Everything will be OK' written on it. 'OK' is at the center with the rest written in a circle around it. Instagram Story posted by Ruibo (@ TheKingPrincess), sharing a post from @ navucko, which features white text written on a green background: 'The more you believe life is a miracle, the more miracles you will experience, create, and witness. - Ayesha Ophelia.'
