Hey crew! Are you in the area of Millvale, PA (greater Pittsburgh area)?
Well if so, please consider stopping by Harold's Haunt this Saturday May 25th from 6pm-12am! They'll be hosting Calypso's Birthday Part 2! Learn more on Harold's Haunt's Instagram!
Harold's Haunt
Harold's Haunt is a haunted They Bar owned by queer witches in Millvale, PA (greater Pittsburgh area). When they bought this bar, the intention was to make it a "They" bar instead of a gay bar to show that they support all people from the queer community, with an emphasis on those who fall under the trans and non-binary umbrellas who sometimes have a harder time fitting in at a traditional gay bar.
They go out of their way to host inclusive events, such as a monthly night for trans femme individuals to claim free clothing and learn tips about hair & makeup, and found family dinners for those who can't or are not safe to go home to their families on holidays. They also offer vegan & gluten free menu options, a full menu of mocktails, and a bi-weekly Sober Sunday where no alcohol is displayed or sold. In addition to all these awesome things, they have so many geeky events (Pokemon Drag shows, Gaymer night, puzzle swaps, among others)!
What was Calypso's Birthday Part 1?
Our friend @RingaSunn has hosted a few OFMD related evenings there in the past, and they held weekly watch parties during S2, then in December last year they planned the first Calypso's Birthday. It was an amazing time! They decorated the bar for the event, with much help on details from set decorator Lindsey Cantrell. People came in cosplay, general pirate costumes, fancy dress, or street clothes to their comfort levels. They had themed drinks, trivia, the show played on a TV, and Ringa had a soundtrack of the music from the show plus a bunch of sea shanties. There were OFMD themed games like designing your own flag and a hunt for crewmates around the bar where you could win a prize.
There was even a surprise guest, a baby goat named Acorn that everyone got to hold and get pictures with on the back patio. There was even a message to the party guests from Con O'Neill himself! The next of these parties is coming up this Saturday, May 25th at 6pm. The warm weather means the patio is open, so more decor, more games, and more fun!
